Afternoon Chaps and Chapettes! So...number 40 ruffled your feathers a little? Well, a little bit of Kiss isnt likely to dampen your current mood?
So, Kiss, the kings of finding more ways of grabbing your hard earnt money release another Alive! This time it's called...shhhhh, wait.....you're gonna love this....drum roll..... #n39 … ALIVE II. Absolutely! They were up for weeks coming up with that!
Alive II is the second live album (and eighth overall) from those make up loving lads and was released on October 14, 1977 by Casablanca Records. The band had released three albums (Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over, and Love Gun) since the previous live outing, the 1975 release Alive!
Coming off of a period of extensive touring, Alive II received a huge fan response and critical acclaim, reaching the No. 7 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The album received praise from several critics. We all know that the Kiss Army are pretty much one of the most loyal set of fans out there and would buy into absolutely a thing that Kiss would do...including this!
For me, I like Kiss. Yeah, they have done some dross, who hasn't, but Kiss are a band that really, REALLY like to make dollars and they do churn out a lot of repetitive stuff. This Alive album...for me...is just more of the same. Nothing special at all. Kiss are a visual band. You need to see this band live not necessarily listen to them. Listening to them live on a record or CD is like farting in a toilet. Great sound but no atmosphere and no one to share with!
Non kiss fans....I got you good news and bad news! Good news is...Kiss Unplugged didnt make it to the top 50!
Bad news....Theres a chance Alive I and Alive III might make it though....!
For me, I get why its here but it's not really a lot of difference from Alive and personally, I much prefer Alive III. Hmmm too high for me.
So, Kiss huh? This group is pretty split on the Kiss camp...but even Kiss fans must feel this really a top 50 live album? It's just another way to make a few quid while having a holiday no?
